What a windy day!

On Saturday 27th of August, it was the finals for us against Ponsonby Koston on their home ground.

As soon as I got out of bed, I went to the living room to watch some rugby videos for half an hour. I watched Julian Savea and his brother as well.

After a while it was time to go so we dropped my brother off to his game at the rugby club.

After that, my mum and I went back home to pick up my dad because he knew the way to Koston.

Before long, we arrived at our destination, it was cold and windy on the field.I was two minutes early before the start of our game. My coach told me that they'll put me on in the second half.

After a while, I went to do some warm ups because I was cold. Once I was warmed up, I went back to cheer for my team.

The other team had scored five tries and my team had only one try so my team thought of a plan. When we got on the field in the second half. I had the best run because I moved forward. We scored five tries in the second half and we made 9 comeback against the other team.

My favourite part of my rugby rugby game was when we won in the end.

Oh man! This was a tough game!

On Saturday 20th of August, my team wanted a rematch against Grammar Carlton on our home ground.

When I woke up, I heard my auntie, uncle and dad outside talking, laughing and making jokes. So I went to the living room to watch some rugby and funny videos.

Ten minutes later, I changed into my rugby gear and went to the kitchen to have some breakfast.

As soon as we had finished our breakfast we went to our rugby club. When we got there my mum went to watch my brother's game on field ten on our home ground.

My team and I warmed up by jogging around the field, stretching, passing and practicing our tackles.

After our warm up, we had huddle and had a team talk. The coaches were talking about our attitudes and also about accountability. Soon it was time for our game.

Both teams came onto the field at the same time. The other team started our game off with a kick off and we received the ball. We scored five tries in the first half. As soon as the second half started, the other team quickly edged close to our try line, but my team mate had a plan so he kicked the ball. After that, we and scored six tries and the other team scored a try in the second half.

Altogether my team had 55 points and the other team had 5 points altogether.

My coach and my team supporters were cheering for us when we won. We were happy that we won the game. The players of the day was me and my friend Noah. They gave us three vouchers.

My favorite part of my rugby game was when I ran metres down the field. and made it easier for my team to score tries.

Wow! This field is smaller than our one!

On Saturday the 13th of August, we had a rematch against Ponsonby Black Pony. We won against them by five points at my home ground in the previous game.

I woke up early in the morning, and my dad had been up all night. When I went to the living room, my uncle and his girlfriend were sleeping on the coach.

I was watching some rugby video because I wanted to watch the strength of the players. Soon after, my uncle and older cousin came to drop off my little baby cousin to my house.

At nine thirty five, my dad dropped me off at my rugby club. My friend's dad picked up my friend Peter and I to go to Cox's bay. On our way to Cox's bay, we put on some deep heat on ourselves to warm ourselves up.

When we arrived at our destination. I released that was the field were I played last year.

As soon as we got off we went to the truck to ask for some hot water but they didn't have any.

Later we went back and we started our training. We passed, tackled and also practiced drive over.

Half an hour later, the game started. Both team went on the field at the same time my team started the game with a kick off . We scored six tries in the first half, this means that we get 50 points for my team and the other team had no tries in the first half. When my team received the ball, the other team got the ball and I tackled hard and made him cry. I got a warning in the end.My team scored nine tries and all together we had seventy six points and the other team didn't have any tries in the second half either.

My favorite part of my rugby game was when we scored seventy six tries in the game because the field was small.

The best comeback in rugby world history!

On Saturday 9th of july, my rugby team had a rematch against Ponsonby Keas.

After I wake my brother up because he had a rugby game as well. Then I went to the living room to wake up my mum and my dad so they can take us to our rugby game.

When we arrived there, we found out that we were two hours early, so I played with my brother because I wasn't able to see any of my teammates.

Forty minutes later, I saw my friend Peter and two of my team mates. We played for half an hour and then I went to the field that we are playing on for the game. All of a sudden, I saw my uncle, auntie and grandpa. I took them to my mum and dad, so they can watch my little brother play his game.

When my game started, my brother 's game ended and my family came over to watch my game. I was ready for the rematch against Ponsonby Keas.

When my team got on the field,I was ready to get my revenge. My team started the game with a kick off. My friend scored two tires and the other team scored two as well in the first half. In the second half, they scored a try and we scored one as well. When the game was about to finish, I scored the last at the corner of the field and my whole team jumped on me because they were so hysterical about the win. I scored in front of my family and it was the longest run that I have ever ran. I ran 100 metres without stopping.

My favourite part was when I scored in front off my family at the edge of the field.

Finally! We won against Pakuranga Holdens!

On Saturday 6th of August, I had a huge game against Pakuranga Holdens, I felt nervous and angry because we have lost to them three times in a row.

I woke up early that morning, and then I went to the living room to watch some rugby videos. When it was nine o'clock I woke my mum and brother up, so we can be at my rugby game on time.

As soon as we had arrived my team had already started our stretches and I was nearly two minutes late.

Next we moved on to some drills for warm up and we stretched, passed the ball to each other, tackling and drive over.

Five minutes later, I saw my aunt's green car so I went over to their car so they know where I was.

Soon the game started and both teams went on the field and we started the game with a kick off. My team went up and got close to their try line and we scored a try. In the first half, we scored one try and the other team scored no try. We swapped side in the second half and my team mate Jonathan scored a try. As soon as the game was about to end, the other team scored a try.

My team had two tries and the other team scored one try in the end.

My team was so happy that we on.

My favorite part of my rugby game was when we won by one point and we had a great comeback.

I wish I got the try?

Early on Saturday morning, I went to the kitchen and I heard my uncle, aunties and my mum talking. They had been up all night having a barbeque.

I went to the living room and my cousin was awake and so I asked him if we should have some breakfast. I was feeling a bit nervous about my rugby game so we both watched some rugby stars in the computer.

Then my uncle came inside and taught us some moves that he had learnt when he was a teenager. When my uncle was teaching us, my shoulder was hurting because I banged my shoulder into his back by accident when we were doing the moves.

When we got to the field near our club area, I saw my brothers coach and friend so I joined in and played with George's team.

The team looked two times smaller than George but they are really fast and strong. Soon after I went to my mum in the car and told her "I will try hard" and then I went to George.

All of a sudden, his game was about to start and I quickly called  my mum and dad to come and join me because the game was starting. The other team scored the first try, then we scored the try. Before long, I saw my team so I grabbed my rugby gear and went to join my team mates.

First we did some stretches to warm up. Then we went and threw some passing drills and some running drills. Soon the game started and I was feeling a bit nervous when I got on the field so I pretended to be a person that is  running away from a lion.

When I was running with the ball, I bumped off three people and then I stumbled from the 40 metre line to the 5 metre line. I was so close to the try line with the ball so my team mate was able to score a try.

In the second half of the game, I was put on the bench to have some rest. When it was close to full time, my team mate Noah scored the try and the whole team was happy. Then the kicker kicked the ball through the goal. The player for the day was my team mate because he tried really hard and dislocated his shoulder. I didn't score a try but my brother scored a try.

It was the first time that I didn't score any tries but I still had a very happy game.

Wow! This team was tough!

On Saturday 18th of June, I had a game against Carlton Black. We lost the last time we versed them last year. It was hold close to Mission Bay and the city.

When I woke up that morning I went to the computer and checked a website that my older cousin had shown me. I found my team and we were versing Carlton Black. I knew that this was going to be a tough game. After checking who we were playing against, I went to wake my brother up. I put on my rugby gear. When my brother and I were ready, I woke my mum up so that she could drop me off to the rugby club.

I was two minutes late and they were just leaving when I arrived. I told them that I had lost my mouth guard was lost so they gave me a new one to keep. It was colour green. On our way to Cornwall park I went with my coach, my mate and his mum (who also is the manager of the team) to Cornwall park.

At Cornwall park we did some warm ups like passing, driving and tackling then 12 minutes later the game started. The other team had some tall people who might be hard to take down. When both teams got on the field I knew that this game was going to be tough. We kicked the ball and when they caught it the player passed it to the other player next to him and he ran towards me and I tackled him out on the try line. I was shocked because he was on the try but I took him out just in time. Then they ran through our defence and scored a try. They kicked the ball but it didn't go through the goal post. When we kicked the ball they came close and they scored another try.

The score was two to zero. Our coach said to us, "You guys are asleep on the field, why did we come to this game?" My team said, "To play!" Then my team went on the field for the second half and this time we scored two tries and they scored the last try. So in total the score was three to two.

My faouritepart was when my team worked harder during the second half of the game and scored two tries. We did not win because we lost by one point but we played our best.

I was not expecting my team to verse the Ponsonby Black Ponies!

On Saturday 11th o June, It was a sunny day. My brother woke up early and got changed into his rugby gear. But he straight away went to the PC and played games while waiting for my mum to wake up.

When the time got to 8:48, I woke my mum up to drop me off at the rugby club so my team mate and his mum could give me a ride to Western Springs because we were playing rugby there, later on the day.

Then we went to Sacred Heart to watch my team mate's brothers game where they versed St.Kentigern College. We saw on the other side of the field another Scared Heart team but they were an older team. When we were leaving, I saw my friend from school watching his older brother's game.

After that, we went to Western Springs because my team had an away game. I went with my team mate and his mum because my mum had to take my brother to his game in Remuera. We were stuck in traffic so we decided to chew some gum. We saw the Motat when we were close to Western Springs. We were versing Ponsonby black ponies, I thought it was the same team as last week but it wasn't.

When the game started, I told my team to play hard and play as a team. The other team kicked the ball and my team called for the ball.My team's defences were really good because we were able to go through their defence. When my team mate got the ball, our right wing ran and scored a try. Soon there was an outline, the kicker for our team kicked the ball and I ran for the ball. I kicked it and my team mate ran as fast as he could but the halftime whistle blew and we scored one try in the first half and the other team didn't score any goals.

The coach benched me in the second half and the other team scored a try. I told my team to play harder this time and my team scored a try.

My favourite part was watching Sacred Heart verses St Kents so I can learn from their mistakes and improve my game.

What a tough game!

On Saturday 28th of May, I woke up at seven o'clock and my brother woke up even earlier than me at six o'clock I thought I heard someone knocking at the so I rushed to the door and realised that it was my dad so I opened the door for him.

Then I called my brother to come to the kitchen so we can have breakfast together. After that I went outside to look for my socks and pant in the garage because they were hung out there to dry. When I was going back, I saw my dad and he told me to go inside and watch a rugby video.

When I got inside, my brother had already started playing the video, I called out to play hard and try to run and score a try. You can bump other players in this game because this is a boys game game so you can't play soft.

Then my dad, mother, brother and I went in the car to go to my rugby game at the Varsity club. Before we started, I said to myself, "It's game time and I will try to play harder today!" Once we were all on the field, both teams went to the referee and then the captains went to the referees to decide who would have the ball first. We won and we wanted to kick the ball so we got the ball in the second half.

When they caught the ball, they broke through our tough defence but my half back caught up and tackled the guy down. Then they scored a try so in the first half, they scored six tries but we didn't score any tries.

I was out for 20 minutes in the second half I practised with my friends. We practised passing, running and tackling straight after the practise, I went to watch my team. Five minutes later, I went back into play and I had to switch positions with the right wing on my team. Soon the other team scored  a try and this was the last try. In the second half, they scored three tries. We have not beaten this team for three years in a roll.

This team was a challenging team for us to beat. My team has to work hard  on our defence and try to make greater passings to each other. Next time, I have to try my best to tackle the person with the ball.

I was not expecting my team to be versing the Under 12s!

On Saturday 21th of May, I had a rugby game against Ponsonby on the main field that was the closest to our rugby club.

I asked my coach "What team are we versing today?", he said. "Under 12 restricted Ponsonby", My team froze and ran I cried, "Noooo! You're lying right?" My coach was serious about us playing against the under 12s. They were tall and big people that can crash our team like pepper.

When our game started, I tackled a player and the person's boots had metal studs. He stepped on my leg and injured me and I fell to the ground. I felt pain in my leg. It felt like I broke my shin because he stepped on my calf muscle. I couldn't walk properly after that and my coach and my friend's dad helped me to go out of the field They told me to stay off the field for 30 minutes. However five minutes later, my friend got injured in the ankle so I had to go in and substitute for him, but I was injured as well, so I was limping.

When the other team had the ball, they tried to score a try but I ran to before they could so they don't come back to my team. Then it was half time time and my coach was talking about me because I had a great run even after I was injured. They didn't count the score because it was a friendly game.

I like friendly teams like this team and I hope I don't get injured next time. After our game, our coach decided for us to have a friendly game with the other team. He switched some of our players with the other players in the other team.

I didn't know I was playing full field!

Early Saturday morning, I woke up and I heard my mum, uncle and auntie talking outside. I went to the living room and saw my cousin awake as well, so I asked him, "Should we have some breakfast?" He replied, "Yes."

When we were eating our breakfast, my uncle taught us some of the moves that he learnt when he was a teenager back in college. Then he told us to hit his back, so when I went to hit his back, I hit it so hard that my shoulder felt really sore afterwards.

When I got there with my mum, dad, and my brother, we were really early because we arrived at 8:30. So my dad, my brother and I went for a walk around the field to try and find my brother's team.

When we found his team, I decided to join in and play with them.

After half an hour, I went to find my mum in the car to get my rugby gear so that I could get changed.

Then I went back to George and by the time I got back, his game had already started. I called out for my mum and my dad to join me because I didn't want them to miss out on his game. I didn't get to see George score a try.

Soon I found my team and my coach said "Go around the side of the field to build up your fitness!" My game started after George's game. His game finished at ten o'clock.

When I caught the ball, I was sprinting like a cheetah, I dodged three people then I was stomping on the field. I dived at the five meter line, then my other friend scored the try.

Before long, it was halftime and we had scored three tries and the other team had only scored one try.

After that, my coach told me to have a rest for the rest of the game.

The other team nearly got a try in the last minute of the game, but instead my friend in my team got the last try. The second half we scored one try but the other team didn't score any tries.

I like playing rugby with my team because it's good to build up my fitness.

Learning Intention: We are learning to understand and use descriptive language in my recount.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I use 14 appropriate adjectives to describe my rugby game.
